Are you thinking about getting married within 12 months and wondering, is it possible?

​One of the first things people will think about after getting engaged is “how long should we take to plan our wedding?” This is a very common question, and no one answer suits everyone. As with most things in life there are pros and cons to planning a last minute wedding, but ultimately, the decision as to whether this is right for you will depend on your own circumstances, priorities, preferences and your own personality type.

For example, do you like to take your time carefully weighing up various options before coming to a decision? Do you already have your heart set on your exact wedding date, dream suppliers, or the minute details of your day? If so, a last minute wedding date might not be for you.

Or are you someone who is decisive and trusts your gut instinct? Do you worry about getting bogged down in every little detail of your day, or stress about the thought of pouring over plans for a year or two? If so and you want to focus on the things that really matter to you, then condensing your planning time might just be the best decision you ever made.

But what about availability?

If the latter sounds more like you then the one major hurdle you will most likely find with short term planning, is the availability of your dream venue. Popular venues are often booked up well in advance and availability is difficult to find meaning you may have to settle for your second choice because time just isn’t on your side. • More likely to delegate: With a short deadline it's much more likely you'll reach out and ask for help. If you think you ‘have all the time in the world', you’re far more likely to take on too much responsibility and overburden yourself with every little detail. Wedding planning is always far less stressful and much more fun with more hands on deck so delegate, delegate, delegate!
  
  
• Not trying to please everyone: The most important people on your wedding day is you and your partner. It’s essential that you remember this and do not try to please everyone else around you. When you don’t have a lot of time, you’ll not feel that same need to factor in everyone else’s ideas, advice and unnecessary imput! Focusing on what really matters to you and only you will save endless toing and froing and changing plans to suit everyone else!
  
  
• It forces you to be much more organised. There’s nothing like having a lack of time to sharpen the mind! An organised approach not only helps you keep track of essential tasks but also allows you to maintain a focused mindset throughout the planning process. Staying organised throughout will help you stay on top of everything without feeling overwhelmed and the planning process will be far more enjoyable!
  
  
• More focus on what matters to you: When time is limited, you will naturally prioritise the things that matter to you most rather than getting lost in a rabbit warren of endless Pinterest boards filled with extravagant ideas.
  
  
• Less time to wait to marry your love. Some people simply don’t want to wait, so if you want to marry your love sooner rather than later then a shorter engagement is surely the way to go for you. Spontaneous celebrations are often the most memorable and truly reflect the love between two people so why wait?

• More enjoyment on the day: Having a shorter planning period enables to you relish in your engagement without getting bogged down in endless decision making. Having less time to obsess over every tiny little detail, keeps the excitement and enthusiasm alive allowing you to focus on the joy of your wedding day itself.
