Cut, Carat, Colour, Clarity… Cluny Castle

Heather & Rick got married in magnificent style in the Summer of 2021. They said their vows in the chapel, had photos with the castle as the backdrop, dined in the Tenants Hall and partied alfresco. ‘We planned on having a small, low key wedding but all that changed the minute we saw Cluny Castle’! If glorious fairy-tale castles are your jam, you’ll love this one, it’s an absolute beauty…

Heather says...

Cluny Castle is a venue like no other. Swooping up the long, woodland drive, Cluny Castle appears through the trees, as if you are in a fairy-tale. The castle from the outside is breathtaking, and that’s before you even step foot inside.

Inside the castle is full of history, beauty and charm, yet still feels homely. The chapel is so intimate, quaint and absolutely stunning, the only place you can imagine exchanging vows once you have seen it. Going down to the Tenants Hall there are stained glass windows, a beautiful fireplace and fairy lights adorning the ceiling creating a wonderful ambiance when hosting your wedding meal. There is endless beauty spots for you wedding photos, I feel I need another day to get them all! ​

The team at Cluny Castle are so wonderful. Fiona, Louise and Cosmo did absolutely everything they could in the lead up to the big day! From Dave showing us round the castle the very first time we saw it, to Louise, Cosmo and Jill on the wedding day itself – they really were fantastic! Jill is like a fairy godmother, finishing off the perfect touches! She looked after my dad who was unwell on the day of the wedding. Louise was like my 4th bridesmaid, there at every turn and making sure everything ran smoothly!

Cluny Castle made our big day. From the stunning castle to the beautiful intimate ceremony in the Chapel, the candle like dinner, dancing in the Tenants Hall and the pictures on the balcony, everything was sheer perfection!

Our Outfits...

I bought my dress by designer Studio Levana from Love Bridal in London and we sourced Rick’s kilt attire from Georgian Dress Hire in Aberdeen.

The Flowers...

Lorna from Sakura Florist is absolutely amazing. The pieces she puts together and the arrangements on the day were unbelievable. I have had so many compliments about them! From our beautiful bridal party bouquets, to the fresh green and white buttonholes and the amazing arrangements dotted around the venue.

The Catering...

Harry Fraser Catering provides “out of this world food!”. So fresh, professional and presented with beautiful finesse. All of our guests commented on how delicious the food was. Our wedding cake was small, simple and sourced from the Celebration Cake Shop in Aberdeen and it was just perfect for us.

The Photographer...

Lauren Polson is just wonderful. She is very laid back and takes beautiful pictures. We had a pre-wedding shoot to get used to being in front of the camera which was actually really helpful. We hardly knew she was there on the day, but that just demonstrates how talented and professional she is. We love our wedding photographs and will treasure them for years to come.

The Best Part of the day...

Of course the best part of the day was marrying my best friend in the chapel of dreams. The groom’s family couldn’t attend because of the pandemic, however we live streamed the wedding to family and friends all over Scotland, in Berlin and Australia. We loved that we had a marquee set up just outside the Tenants Hall – this meant we could have the evening buffet indoors and the bar and dance floor outdoors.

YES! Cluny really is the best wedding venue! I have been to so many hotel weddings, Cluny is a hidden gem, the true fairy-tale. It is majestic, historical, homely, absolutely stunning, full of character with a modern twist.
